The concept

The Road Trip goes on a World Tour: the concept, the beginning that did not happen and the arrival at the first destination.

“Road Trip”, Laura Mulligan’s new collection, paints the roads, the railways, the ships and the universal unending movement around the world. The oil and acrylic works are executed with Mulligan’s trademark energetic and evocative painting style.

The Road Trip collection was due to be launched at World Art Dubai April 2026 by exhibiting the actual Road Trip paintings. Like most road trips, plans sometimes change and this event was postponed due to regional security issues. However, the next stage of the road trip has begun.

Mulligan’s Road Trip paintings are now on a virtual road trip world tour via billboards on roads all around the world.

First stop

Selfoss, Iceland

The first painting from the Road Trip collection appeared on a billboard near the entrance to the town of Selfoss, Southern Iceland (precisely, 63°56’53.62”N 21°00’46.01”W). Launched by the artist on location, the digital billboard presented the painting every two minutes. People driving by or hiking may have caught a glimpse of the Road Trip painting as they journey on, making their own road trip to somewhere.

The background to Laura Mulligan launching a globally focused creative initiative evolved from Mulligan’s own world trips as a travelling artist in this crazy, magical world.

All places on the billboard world road trip have previously been travelled to by the artist who is showing those experiences on this tour, in different landscapes. Seeing the landscapes with her own eyes generates the authentic inspiration for the paintings.
